Entre 14 et le 20 août, douze musiciens et musiciennes extraordinaires vont se réunir au Salon Vert pour répéter quelques chefs d’œuvre du répertoire de musique de chambre écris pour violon, alto, violoncelle et piano.

Les violonistes Yolanda Bruno et Amy Hillis ont réuni les participants venant du Canada et les Etats-Unis purement pour le plaisir de jouer ensemble. Même si le but n’est pas de donner un concert, nos chambristes vont partager leur enthousiasme avec nous lors d’une « repetition à portes ouvertes ». Vous aurez l’occasion d’entendre des extraits des œuvres de Beethoven,  Bartok, Elgar, Schumann et Saint-Saens à partir de 15 heures, dimanche le 20 août.

Venez vous baignez dans la belle musique et la bonne conversation…avec un verre bien sûr !

Between August 14 and August 20, twelve extraordinary musicians will be rehearsing at the Salon Vert – for the pure pleasure of exploring some of the gems of the chamber music repertoire written for violin, cello, viola and piano.

Violinists Yolanda Bruno and Amy Hillis have organized both music and musicians, and although the purpose of their week of chamber music is not to prepare a concert, they have enthusiastically agreed to let us in on the rehearsal process and talk about the music they love.

Beethoven – Bartok – Elgar – Schumann – Saint-Saens 
Starting at 3 o’clock, you can listen to excerpts of the works in progress, and ask any questions you may have.  Great music, inspiring conversation, and maybe even a glass of local cider… Come and enjoy!

Yolanda Bruno

....La violoniste Yolanda Bruno a été saluée par la critique pour la « maîtrise totale de son instrument, une articulation et une justesse parfaites et une infinie variété dans la palette sonore » (La Presse).

Elle s’est produite comme soliste avec l’Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, l’Orchestre Métropolitain, Youth Orchestra of the Americas et les London Mozart Players.  Yolanda a remporté le prix Virginia Parker, le Grand Prix du Isabel Bader Overton Violin Competition (2017) ainsi que le Grand Prix et le prix de la meilleure exécution d’une oeuvre Canadienne lors du Concours OSM Standard Life (2013). Elle est également boursière de la Fondation Sylva Gelber et du Conseil des Arts du Canada.

Originaire d’Ottawa, Yolanda a complété son baccalauréat avec Jonathan Crow à l’École de musique Schulich de l’Université McGill et a poursuivi ses études supérieures auprès de David Takeno à la Guildhall School of Music and Drama de Londres (Royaume-Uni).

Yolanda Bruno is a brilliant young Canadian violin virtuoso devoted to communicating her love of music with audiences. “Music,” she says, “represents love, sadness, nostalgia, hope. Every possible emotion is spoken through sound in some way and brings comfort and meaning to your life in a way that words cannot.”

Yolanda has performed with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, l’Orchestre Métropolitain, the Youth Orchestra of the Americas and the London Mozart Players. Equally passionate about chamber music, she has collaborated with Pinchas Zukerman, Menahem Pressler and Levon Chilingirian. Yolanda Bruno won the 2017 Isabel Overton Bader Canadian Violin Competition, the Grand Prize at the 2013 OSM Standard Life Competition and the 2015 Virginia Parker Award, a distinction shared with fellow Canadian musicians Yannick Nézet-Seguin, James Ehnes and Marc-André Hamelin.

“The musicians featured in this afternoon's performance have come from all over Canada and the United States. Here in Hinchinbrooke they will have the pleasure of exploring some of the greatest chamber music ever written. In this idyllic setting the musicians can throw ideas back and forth, think outside of the box and allow the rhythm of the countryside to influence their music.

Together we perform as soloists, chamber musicians and orchestral players in Canada and abroad and are passionate arts coordinators in our communities. On generous loan from the Canada Council for the Arts, this afternoon's performance will feature three fine Italian instruments: a 1769 Joannes Guillami cello, a 1700 Antonio Stradivari violin and an 1820 Joannes Franciscus Pressenda violin.”

Amy Hillis

....Née à Regina, Saskatchewan, Amy Hillis est inscrit dans un programme de doctorat en interprétation à l'université McGill sous la direction du professeur Axel Strauss. Elle est diplômée du San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM), obtenant la maîtrise en musique en 2014 sous la tutelle du pédagogue et interprète Ian Swensen. Elle détient un baccalauréat en interprétation violon de l'université McGill, où elle poursuivit ses études avec Denise Lupien.

Amy s'est distinguée avec de nombreuses bourses incluant le Prix de la Fondation Musique Sylva-Gelber, la Bourse de l'Excellence de McGill, et la Bourse Présidentielle de SFCM. Avec l'aide financière et le support du Conseil des arts de la Saskatchewan, Amy Hillis remplit les fonctions de gérante et de violoniste du quatuor à cordes Horizon. Lors de cinq tournées, l'ensemble donna environ 150 concerts pour plus de 40,000 élèves en Saskatchewan.

Originally from Saskatchewan, Amy Hillis is quickly establishing herself as one of Canada's most versatile and vibrant violinists. As the winner of the 2017 McGill Concerto Competition, Amy will perform as soloist with the McGill Symphony Orchestra during their 2017-2018 season. With funding and support from the Saskatchewan Arts Board, Amy has performed for more than 40,000 young people in fifty different Canadian communities during five tours as a member of the Horizon String Quartet. Amy is also the recipient of the prestigious Sylva Gelber Foundation Music Award which is given to Canadian musicians of outstanding ability and career potential. Amy is currently pursuing a Doctor of Music in Violin Performance at McGill University in Montréal with Axel Strauss.
